Beardstown Illinois High School Class of 1962
The Class of 1962 is still around after 55 + years of good and righteous living. We are even in the electronic world as shown by this web site.
The picture above is of our old school building which is now gone, but we still have fond memories of it and our years spent in its halls. It now only exists in photographs such as this one. A few of us have been able to obtain bricks from the building as it was being torn down. Pictures of the new high school are on the "Home Town News" page on this web site.
Our 55th high school reunion is now behind us and I am already looking forward to the 60th.
May 2017 - 55 years!!!
55th Class Reunion
The Class held one of its better Reunions in May 2017. You do not know what you missed if you were not able to be there. For a look at all of the fun activities that took place that weekend go to the 55th Reunion link in the "Reunion" section of this web site. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Joyce Lebkuecher Potts and Kent Morgan for sending me most of the snapshots you will see on the following pages. Thanks, thanks!!
We thought the 50th Class Reunion was the best ever, but this 55th has to rank up there with it. Although the Class is getting a bit smaller, we can still party hearty, just a bit slower. I attempted to include a number of photographs from the Reunion weekend to give those of you who could not attend a snapshot of the activities.
If you would like to receive a Class booklet, please send me an e-mail and I will be more than happy to get one to you.
Since our last Reunion
Recent loses of a number of our Classmates.
Many of us miss Marty so much and the cheerfulness he always brought no matter where he was. Marty had been dealing with health issues over the past few years, but that did not slow him down. He could still drink a few beers. Marty passed away on January 5, 2016 in Beardstown.
Russell "Butch" Tracy just passed away on January 25, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. Butch had spent a number of years in Texas. Butch left a wife, Leonarda, and two daughters, Katie Lenn and Lisa, and one son, Russell Tracy III. Butch had served in the Navy. He still loved drag racing and muscle cars, and his obituary said that is why over the years he worked for three atuo parts companies.
Joann C Wilson Hovendon passed away on December 4, 2018 in Beardstown, Illinois. Joann married Bill Hovendon in 1962, and he passed away in 2015. Joann and Bill usually made sure to attend our Class Reunions. As did her brother, George Wilson, before he passed away back in 2009. Joan had three boys and one daughter, 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Besides being a homemaker and care giver, Joann volunteered at the Beardstown Christian Academy during the 1980's.
As our Class loses our classmates, we should take a minute and think about each and every one, those no longer with us and those we still see and talk with.
Class of 1962 Web Site
In recent months the software I initially utilized to build this web site is no longer being supported by Microsoft. I am in the process of converting this web site as well as a number of others that I maintain over to a new web design software. This is a painful process. On this web site alone I have 35-40 web pages that must be revised. So please bear with me for a few weeks or months until I get the entire web site up to date. Here it is 2018 and I am still updating this web site.
