BHS Class of 1960 - 50th Class Reunion
Saturday Afternoon
To warm up for the Annual Alumni Banquet we went to Bill and Janice Schlueter’s house. It was a very nice afternoon unless you sat in the sun, then it did get a bit warm. The guys parked on the deck and discussed sports, cars, jobs during and just out of high school, what it’s like growing old and the various limps, hearing and assorted other health issues. The ladies being a bit sharper settled around the table in the kitchen. They discussed whatever a group of women discuss.

Banquet
The Banquet at the High School had reservations for about 375 alumni members and most of the 2010 high school Seniors. Butch Gibson was picked to give the class response but had Mary Ann very worried as he was very late in showing up. Bill Schlueter had mentioned to Butch that he was going to take a few beers and Butch was welcome to bring a bottle of wine. Butch brought the bottle of wine but caused a great deal of consternation by Mary Ann hoping that the school officials would not throw Butch and his bottle out. He about did not get into the building with the bottle. Sally Moeller Summey won the 50/50 drawing at the Banquet. Over-all the meal was good and the group that serves it was as efficient as always.
A few (very few) went down to the Elks after the Banquet. It is the opportunity to see those in the other classes and those members we knew from our days in BHS. The Annual Alumni Banquet and Class parties do draw many people back to Beardstown for this special weekend.

DeSollars after the Banquet
At one time there were at least 21 of us at Pam and Bill DeSollars. It was so nice to be able to sit and talk without dueling with the band and the music. Bill was the perfect host and made sure everyone that wanted a drink or beverage had one and he was always on the spot for refills.
We all were laughing until most people had tears at Gary Buck after he ate 10 Gin soaked raisins (good for Arthritis). He threw his cane across the room, yelling "I'm cured, I’m cured”, then whaling his arms and legs repeating his claim. It didn't stop for about 10 minutes.
Then there is Karen Conner Davis that keeps us in stitches telling stories of her "secret" life in high school. Gary did pester the heck out of Karen for a good portion of the night.
A phone call was made to Jim Danner. Since Jim was not home to take the call everyone, and I mean everyone, left a very long and involved message. Pam DeSollar received a phone call the next week and all she could hear for the first minute was someone laughing. It was Jim Danner who had just gotten home and had listened to his L O N G voicemail from many of us. Said he made a wrong choice in not joining us.
