The Class of 1962 reached its big milestone in May 2012, our 50th Class Reunion.

The weather in Beardstown was almost perfect, although it was a bit hot. But since the Banquet is now held in the new high school cafeteria and it is air conditioned, nobody noticed. The Class Chairman was Mary Ann Fishel Smith. Mary Ann, I know, put in many, many hours of hard work to get things organized, finding current addresses for those of us who move around a bit and mailing out letters. I depended upon Mary Ann and Geraldine Wagner to help me find current addresses so I could send out the questionnaire to every one for information to put into the Class booklet. I received help from a number of people especially Hazel Taylor Merrick.   I would hate to print out and file all of the E-mails that were going back and forth.  I also received a packet of photographs from Bob & Sandy Walker.  They provided me with pictures I had never seen before.  I put some in the booklet, a few are on the Class of 1960 web site and more will go into the next booklet in 5 years.

On Friday night our Class got together at the Café From Yesterday along with two other classes, the Class of 1945 and the much younger Class of 1980. We had a great turn-out with 50 able to attend which included 33 Classmates and many spouses. Those who attend included:

David & Liz Asher   Mary Ankrom Longmire
Gary & Mary Ann Buck   Jerry & Sharon Boice
Virginia Bybee Thompson   Karen Conner Davis
Jean Beghtol Onken   Marilyn Butcher & Bill Walter
Earnest & Mariam Carls   Bill & Pam DeSollar
Mary Ann Fishel & Lanny Smith   Larry Foster
Butch & Dora Gibson   Marsha Hutson
Sis Jamison   Roger & Peggy Hunter
Donnie Harris   Judy Lynn Guinn
Tom & Debbie Lael   Sally Moeller Summey
LaDonna Mouser Mitchell & guest   Linda Raper Arnold
Ed & Peggy Rink   Bill & Janice Schlueter
Tom & Vickie Taylor   Bill & Michelle Unland
Hazel Taylor & Bob Merrick   Bob & Sandy Walker
Joe & Eileen Walker   Gerry Wagner
Dale Wankel & wife

Joe Walker mentioned that the last Class party he attended was our 25th. So it looks like Joe is on a 25 year schedule. Nobody recognized David Asher and his wife and many of us did not recognize Dale Wankel either. It was nice to see LaDonna Mouser and we were very glad she was able to attend.

Of course the Class of 1980 had a band, and they were able to play with all of the gusto you would expect. It was noted that our Class had members travel from as far away as Alaska and the Island of Malta. A brief geographic description provided those who were not sure of where Malta is located, found that simply going to Italy and turning right, you will find Malta. After the music started the tables closest to the band slowly started to clear and before long many had moved to the back wall as far away as possible. It looked to me that most of the Class of 1980 had even gone outside to be able to talk. A number of our Classmates did take advantage and displayed their moves around the dance floor.

Our Class started to peel out and go to other Reunion parties in the downtown area and many took advantage of Pam and Bill DeSollar’s invitation to their home where the sound level was sane, well almost sane.
